Ramadan is an annual event eagerly anticipated by Muslims worldwide. It holds immense significance as a time of great rewards and devotion, dedicated to drawing closer to Allah (swt) through acts of mercy and reflection. It is an opportunity for us to seek forgiveness sincerely, count our blessings, and offer support to those in need.
Sadly, while many of us choose to fast during daylight hours, millions of people around the world are forced to go hungry every day. The coronavirus pandemic has only worsened this crisis, leaving countless others without enough food to survive.
Currently, 795 million people worldwide suffer from chronic hunger, with 1 in 12 people malnourished due to a severe lack of necessary nutrients. It is a heartbreaking reality that underscores the need for us to extend our hands of support to those in dire need.
As we reflect on our own blessings during Ramadan, we must remember those who are suffering in impoverished communities such as Syria, Pakistan, Palestine, Yemen, and the Gambia. It is an opportune time to support our Ramadan Appeal and donate our Zakat to assist those who are most in need.
Let us use this holy month to recognize the blessing of food and pledge to help our fellow human beings who struggle to access it every day.
Your contribution, no matter how big or small, can make a difference. It can help to bring hope to those who are struggling, and it can make a positive impact on their lives.
During Ramadan, many of us experience hunger, but for some, this holy month means the anticipation of elaborate Iftar meals filled with their favorite dishes. Unfortunately, there are countless people around the world who continue to experience hunger and have nothing to break their fasts with.
At Albaraka Welfare Trust, we have made it our mission to help those who are most in need during Ramadan. We believe that no one should have to go hungry, which is why we work in refugee camps, remote areas, impoverished communities, and with the most vulnerable to ensure that everyone has access to vital food. By donating to our Ramadan Appeal, you can help us make a difference and give your Zakat.
Your donation can help us provide food parcels that nourish lives. Good food makes families stronger, healthier, and happier. Children excel in school, elders feel safer and better, and adults are able to work when they have access to nourishing food.
Over the past three years, we have provided food to almost 25,000 vulnerable individuals during Ramadan, and we are grateful for that opportunity. However, this year, we need your help more than ever. Together, we can provide Ramadan food parcels and Eid gifts, and Muslim Charity can facilitate the distribution of your fitranah, fidyah, and kaffarah.
