Muharram is the first month of the Islamic lunar calendar and is considered one of the four sacred months in Islam. It holds significant importance for Muslims worldwide as it marks the beginning of the Islamic New Year. The word “Muharram” itself means “forbidden,” reflecting the sanctity of this month.
Muharram is a month of great spiritual significance, marked by reflection, prayer, and fasting. For many Muslims, it is a time to remember the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, and his followers at the Battle of Karbala. This event is a symbol of the struggle against tyranny and injustice.
Muharram 2024 is an opportunity for us to come together and make a meaningful impact. Through our Muharram Water Appeal, Albaraka Trust aims to provide clean water to those in need, honoring the spirit of sacrifice and compassion that defines this sacred month.
