Ramadan is a special month eagerly awaited by Muslims worldwide. It holds immense significance and offers great rewards. During this time, we focus on devotion, mercy, and drawing closer to Allah (swt). It’s an opportunity for sincere forgiveness, reflecting on our blessings, and helping those less fortunate. It reminds us of the blessings we enjoy and allows us to empathize with the struggles faced by our brothers and sisters in places like Syria, Pakistan and Palestine.

The Significance of Ramadan: Ramadan is not only about fasting but also deeply connected to the Qur’an. It is the month during which the Qur’an was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad, making it a time for Muslims to engage more deeply with the holy text, seeking guidance and wisdom.
Special Meals: Suhoor and Iftar mark the beginning and end of each day’s fast. Suhoor, the pre-dawn meal, is vital for sustaining the day’s fast, while Iftar, the meal at sunset, is a time for community and gratitude.
Who Fasts: The obligation to fast applies to all adult Muslims, with exceptions for those who are ill, elderly, pregnant, breastfeeding, menstruating, or traveling. Children, the elderly, and those with health conditions are exempt, reflecting the faith’s emphasis on compassion and practicality.
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said:
“Whoever observes fasts during the month of Ramadan out of sincere faith, and hoping to attain Allah’s rewards, then all his past sins will be forgiven.”
[Bukhari]
Ramadan is anticipated to commence on Monday, March 11th, 2024, and conclude on the evening of Tuesday, April 9th, 2024, contingent upon the sighting of the moon.
Eid al-Fitr, the Muslim festival, marks the official end of Ramadan. The precise timing is determined by the sighting of the moon. Eid al-Fitr officially commences with the beginning of the Islamic month of Shawwal. This year, Ramadan is anticipated to end on the evening of Tuesday, April 9th, 2024, depending on the sighting of the moon.
When to Conclude Fasting for Ramadan 2024?
The final day of fasting for Ramadan 2024 is expected to be Tuesday, April 9th, contingent upon the sighting of the moon.
Unlike the widely used Gregorian calendar, the Islamic calendar follows the lunar cycle. As a result, significant dates in the Islamic calendar shift forward by approximately 11 days each year. Hence, the sighting of the moon determines the conclusion of the month-long period of Ramadan and the commencement of Eid.
